Black pixelated shade over my graphics. Is my GPU broken?

I fear that my R9 290 TRI-X Sapphire GPU is broken, or starting to break down. Since recently, while playing, among others, Star Wars Battlefront and GTA V (at ultra settings, that it would normally handle) I get a kind of black pixelated shade overlay over more than 2/3 of my screen. This overlay is at all random places, never the exact same spot. I use a custom (quite agressive) cooling curve in Sapphire TRI-X. I believe the problem started after the Crimson drivers were installed. If any of you guys know more about this problem I would be so grateful. I never tweaked or OC anything. I included some examples, these aren't even the most severe cases. EDIT: I used 3DMark to check my GPU performance, however nothing special came out of it AMD Radeon R9 290 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i5-4670K,Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z87X-SLI .

Build:

  • GPU: Sapphire R9 290 4GB GDDR5 OC TRI-X
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-SLI
  • 2 times Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB with 2 modules at 1.866 MHz DDR3 (so 16GB in total connected to 4 slots)
  • Crucial M500 240 GB SSD
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 2TB Hard disk
  • Cooler Master VS V650S Power supply
