I am unable to use the DVI and HDMI port at the same time for dual monitors

Both screens work individually but not at the same time. I have to use an HDMI adapter for the monitor (Wacom Cintiq) with the dvi port, not sure why the DVI needs the HDMI adapter and wont work by itself. The monitor with the HDMI (ACER ASPIRE ALL IN ONE) works fine by itself. I got both screens to work for a few hours but after the computer went to sleep, I have had no luck. The computer is brand new out of the box and I downloaded the latest driver for the graphics card. I also tried using the DVI and VGA ports on the upper portion of the computer with no luck. I was expecting 2 screens to be no problem as I am looking to add 1 more. Any help would be appreciated!
