whats the best driver for a r9 290x paired with a amd 8core @ 4.0
ok I had to pull my r9 out reinstall windows 10 plug the r9 back in, update the driver take off win defender and firewall unplug the internet let it update then and only then did it finish installing. I only use my p.c. for is gaming so I didn't lose anything other then gaming time. The update looks real slick I like it, thanks for all the help guys.
The latest one.
Dosent install. I've disabled firewall and virus protection, and it still locks up.
make sure to remove old drivers first , and then use ddu in safe mode to clean windows registry .If that doesnt work then we need more information , complete specs of pc and os .
....and disconnect from the internet while installing..
did disconnect from the internet
specs are amd8350 16gb ram r9 290x4gb win10 catalyst 15.7.1 really thanks for the help but I think I'm done messing with this. I did remove all old drivers too.
normally i would recommend the latest version of display drivers, Crimson v15.30.1025.
but, it has caused "page fault in non-paged area" with the new atikmdag.sys file over and over. with both the initial 15.30.1025 and the Crimson 15.11.1 beta version.
reverting back to the older 15.7.1 display driver while still using the newer Crimson control software has worked perfect.
one thing that may help with the install is running as administrator but it should be setup that way by default.
when you get a chance , open a command prompt with admin rights , type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth then press enter , after that has run through " will take a little " then type sfc/scannow then press enter , again let it run through , both of these are built in tools in windows which will replace any corrupt/missing files it comes across
it says windows can not find DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth make sure you typed it correctly
that and this one is directly copy and pasted from microsofts support forums and works correctly on my pc , ill repaste the command and make sure the command prompt has admin rights DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
if you still get the samer error , do the sfc/scannow first , let it repair , can take up to 3 times to catch all files " will states failed to fix x " , reboot and try again
that did nothing
even the sfc/scannow dose nothing yes I have admin rights idk giving up.
OP has already stated they are trying to install the latest ones. hello, that would be the download from the official website.
@riskinjury, i would recommend not using 3rd party websites or software that scans your system like ada is pushing.
I'm not going to be downloading anything from that site. I have another system I have been using and will keep using until there is a more clear answer.
ok so I just seen my amd evolved says I'm using 15.11.1 but my catalyst says I'm using 15.7.1??? is it because I skipped the update it dosent say I skipped it like it use to.
never had trouble like that installing CCC or display drivers, or the new Crimson. don't see how being connected to the internet could interfere. glad you got it figured out though. the system must not have acknowledged the type of card or something on those lines before the fresh install.
what motherboard are you using? were you replacing another dedicated GPU?
My guess is, Windows updating was conflicting until the internet was disconnected/disabled. This seems to be a reoccurring problem I see here.
seeing the command prompts wouldn't even work , the os has some critical errors
misspoke on a step uninstalled all drivers unplugged the r9 when the power was off plugged it back in did a clean install of win10 download the driver with the win defender off and firewall off unplugged the internet I'm guessing the windows smartglass had something to do with it idk then installed the driver(mobo gigabyte 990fxa-ud3) brand new build
