The graphics driver is completely independent of the wireless adapter. Please provide screenshots so we might be better able to assist.

I guess there where some bad guys who used a zero day exploit before the microsoft patch day. And before they know exactly what to do to crack the Catalyst Control Center software. To disable the wireless network adapter isn't the same than power off the wi-fi hardware. For the first point they can infiltrate.
In terms of your second answer the power saving can not be disabled in my wirelles adapter settings of the Device Manager.
