trying to upgrade dell vostro 1000 to windos 10 from Windows 7 pro 64bit, get error about GPU compatability or such like, wonder if there is a solution.
The Xpress 1150 is not compatible with WIndows 10.
You can find more information here: Windows® 10 Driver Support for Discrete AMD Radeon™ Graphics Products
The link given is not for on board graphic cards which the one I am concerned about is....
if it works in Windows 7 wonder what the issue is
It also applies to integrated graphics.
Discrete AMD Graphics Products That Do Not Support Windows® 10
The following is a list of graphics products that do not have driver support Windows® 10:
The X1150 is too old to function properly under WIndows 10.
Lots of bad advice for you here.
Anyway, I have a Dell Vostro 1000 with the Xpress 1150 running fine with Windows 10.
To bypass the incompatibility error, download the Microsoft Media creation tool and download the iso version of Windows 10 (home or pro, depending on your license.)
I used the 32bit version since I assumed that it might be less troublesome.
Use the tool to burn the ISO to a USB stick and install from there, for whatever reason this bypasses the compatibility check.
Windows 10 will install the Basic Display Adapter and so far we seem to be stuck with that, no 1280x800, just 1024x768.
Good luck and let us know how you did.
did exactly the same thing USB install does bypass this issue, but had to do a clean install.....
dont suppose there is any way of improving the driver, but at least it works tthanks
