After installing Crimson and 15.11beta have noticed after shutting down games that the desktop icons are re-arranged because the driver changes the resolution when going back to the desktop. Anyone know the cause or a workaround?
Could you provide some more information about your system, graphics card, monitor, how it is connected to the graphics card and the OS? I have not noticed this behaviour on my system.
I have a home build:
HAF 912 Tower air cooled, ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0, FX-8350, R9 280 DUALX, EVGA B2 850W, 16GB CORSAIR VENGENCE 1866, Vizio 39'' 1920x1080p 60Hz thru HDMI
Bose Wave II sound system connected thru TV w/satellite spkrs.
I have found a workaround to stop the icons from re-arranging when exiting games or swapping files and programs. Its a lightweight utility/app called DesktopRestore (571KB) as a temporary fix til I find out if it is an OS issue or corruped user profile.
I have this exact same issue and it is driving me insane, the only additional thing I am doing is running VSR, specs below;
GA-Z87-D3HP, 4670K, HIS7950 Boost, 8GB Crucial 1866, 750w Seasonic PSU and Dell U2412M (1920x1200).

Noticed also that I get artifacting while in browser mode now that could be adblock doing its thing but this behavior wasn't apparent using the Omega AMD drivers only Crimson has shown this behavior along with the icons randomly re-arranging themselves.
Using Crimson I had checked the Virtual Super Resolution in Display settings in the new AMD Radeon Settings, have since unchecked it and using the IconRestore little utility the icons have stopped changing randomly. But the artifact thing is annoying. Plus had some sound issues if my MS sound levels where set above 60%, it would start popping and snapping as in a latency problem.
As all new drivers seem to be this one too has issues but not as bad as I have heard Nvidia is with some of their stuff.
I have also noticed when using VSR, as I use dual screen that my icons on my second screen, PC, Recycle Bin etc seem to be increased/scaled up in size which is a bit odd.
Hopefully amdmatt will respond to this thread again, as it is a bit hard to describe in a bug report.
They just came out with another driver today I'll try that and see what happens.
Basically, VSR is for gaming...not for surfing the web and normal computer use and is applied on a per game basis from the game's display options.
Yeah I do a lot of gaming...you name it I have it most likely. That was where a lot of issues where taking place. I could get out of a game like lets say BF4 or CoD and the desktop icons would be randomly re-arranged. It happened with every game really...not so much browsing the net. As stated browsing I still get black artifacts switching tabs and rarely on occasion was getting random icon changes....it was like I had gone to Safe Mode or had changed the resolution to 800x600 and all the icons would be bunched up in the corner. That IconRestore mostly fixed that. In my experience with Crimson all those things plus sound latency never got 'em with Omega or earlier drivers using the R9 280 DualX.
...and what OS?
