AMD Crimson Software hard locks machine when installing display driver

Much like the 15.11 beta drivers I tried before it, when I try to install the current AMD Crimson drivers, my machine hard locks. That is to say, the screens turn off, the sound stutters repeatedly over the 'device connected' Windows sound, and I can't even press the reset button; I have to power down.

I've tried uninstalling the 15.7.1 drivers first, I've tried booting in low resolution mode (can't install drivers in safe mode), I've tried removing my RAID card. Nothing seems to help.

15.7.1 seems to work fine, but I'm worried about staying on those drivers indefinitely.
