Amd hardware encoding not working on steam link, valve says that they reported the issue to amd.
Just here to see if this is true and if there is a fix in the works
I forgot to add i have a furyX with the driver 15.11 beta.
There is no AMD Hardware encoding option in our drivers. The Steam app needs to hook in to the OpenCl library to enable hardware encoding.
I have an 7950HD card which also has the same or similar issue with AMD hardware encoding on the host. The streaming is not entriely non-functional, but it causes severe flickering (switching the screen to black every few frames) making it broken and the games unplayable.
There is this at least one thread on the steam forums for in-home streaming where people still complain about these issues, because it has not been resolved, and it's now more than four months that it persiists. There are actually several threads about AMD hardware and steam's in-home streaming, but the one linked is -I think- the most popular one.
Screen flickers while streaming :: Steam In-Home Streaming
AMD cards are the only GPU cards that have this issue with hardware encoding in-home streaming. Unless, Valve/ Steam team has some sort of grudge against AMD, I'd say that AMD should probably look into why this is.
I have also been having the same problem for quite a while now. AMD desktop and AMD HTPC.
Is there a fix in the works for this issue? :/
Desktop: FX-8350 / Dual R9-290 CF
HTPC: Gigabyte Brix A8-5545M
Made an account on here just to raise awareness of this issue. The linked forum thread not has 300+ responses with no response from Valve.
Shouldn't AMD find out what is happening? The flickering is happening client-side with AMD hardware encoding enabled streaming from AMD hosts.
