Problems with high load while doing H.264 encoding.

Question asked by aigarslv on Nov 9, 2015

Good day.

I recently upgraded computers in one video studio that uses JustCamIt (software for live H.264 video streaming from web cameras). And we are getting very high CPU usage 90-100% on all cores.

There are 3 computers with same hardware specifications:

AMD A10-7850K 3.70GHZ R7 FM2+ 95W AD785KXBJABOX (running at 4.0GHZ) Catalyst version 15.7.1

GIGA-BYTE GA-F2A88XM-HD3

KINGSTON 8GB 2400MHZ DDR3 CL11 DIMM XMP HYPERX SAVAGE

SAMSUNG SSD 850 PRO 128GB SATAIII, 550/470MBS, IOPS 100/90K

CORSAIR POWER SUPPLY VS 550W ATX12V

PC CASE ZALMAN A1, MINI TOWER, USB3

Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 with Right Light turned off or Logitech BCC950 ConferenceCam - 720p or 1080p.

Internet download ~300Mbit/s upload ~350 Mbit/s

I know that JustCamIT uses MainConcept AVC/H.264 Encoder version 8.8

Two of them run Windows 7 and one Windows 10 and all are experiencing the same issue.

Also they have some old 1st gen i5 CPUs with 2 GB RAM that have no issues at all - maximum load at 60%.

Any suggestions on how to lower CPU usage ?
