GPU Suddenly Overheating

Discussion created by practikill on Oct 27, 2015

Starting last night, my GPU has been hitting up to 105c while gaming. It idles at about 46c.

I took it out, cleaned it, and replaced the thermal paste...albeit with some really cheap thermal paste, as I couldn't find any at local stores, except this one crappy laptop repair shop.

All of this to no benefit. The card doesn't seem to be down clocking or crashing, I can play games just fine. I know these high temps will kill the card eventually.

Unfortunately, I am on a fixed income, and I don't have the money to replace it. How long before the card fries?

I tried HWmonitor, and MSI Afterburner to monitor the system, with the same results.
