Help, im running a
1200 corsair gold psu
Sabretooth 990fx r2
32 gb 1333 ram
Cooling is 280mm corsair h110i gt
Gtx 770 sli
Windows 7 premium 64 bit.
It keeps freezing on games, has anyone got any ideas.
"It keeps freezing on games". You're sure it's not the RAM because you've run Memtest86+? You sure it's not the GPUs because you've run Furmark or Haven loops? You sure it's not the cooler because the temperature stays under 55°C? You sure it's not the PSU because it provides 11.95v or higher on the 12v rail? You sure it must be the CPU because it also crashes in Prime95?
Hi thanks for the info, but I finally figured it out today. Got some decent thermal paste and reapplied. I only used the stock stuff which was pre applied to the h110i gt. Had it running all day at 5ghz. What a beast of a chip.
The TIM on a liquid cooler does not make a heck of a lot of difference, only 2-5°C depending on the type of aftermarket you use. And with the H100i...
Is this a new set up with FX 9590 and whats your cooling set up including the questions above and I can tell you it is running at at least 70C unless the system is water cooled. What Frequency are you shooting for. Start off at 4.7 GHZ shut off all the automatic over clocking on your board. The FX9590 dont like turbo boost you will have to look up manually setting 5.0 GHZ with this chip on the sabertooth. I have almost the same set up as you and I can tell you its a bear to get the 5.0 GHZ out of the chip without water cooling or high end AIO cooler. I run a full water cooling loop and never see over 53C full tilt. But I have experienced the Shut down and freezes with the turbo boost on.
Thanks for the info, it good to get help from people with greater experience than me. Posted this question on another forum and all I got was people telling me what a crap chip and should have gone for intel,' yeah thanks for the input'
All good so far, so thanks.
The FX 9590 is not necessarily crap . Work to get it to where you want it to be yes. If you can live with the 4.7 GHZ no problems all day long. If your striving for the 5.0 GHZ all cores all the time. Then its work and Time but achievable.
