I'm thinking of upgrading from my fx-6300, and the 8000 series looks like a good choice. However, there are a crapton of them!
I think FX-8300 is good choice. If you are aware of 125 W TDP, there are two models with lower TDP 95W (FX-8320E). I have FX-8350 and I am very satisfied.
I have the FX-8370E and it's been excellent. It is the 95-watt model so runs a bit cooler than others. That's my recommendation for anyone if they can afford it. I run it with the Corsair H55 liquid cooling kit.
In fact the CPUs with an ''E'' value are later published energy optimized CPUs of the FX-8000 Series.
I own the FX-8350 right now and I love it.
Best $/performance value I have ever seen.
I have 2 8350's, and an 8320E... both are great for gaming. My newest build I used the 8320E (=Banevader=) because lower cost, and I haven't noticed any differences in performance while gaming. I was also raised by a couple of "hippies"... so the lower electrical usage of the E series was also on my mind.
