Hi, so....Something weird happened today.
I left my computer running all night, downloading a game. I went to reboot, as I usually do in the morning, and it failed to POST, with a beep sequence coming from the MB.
A quick search said it was that it could not detect the GPU. I removed it, checked the power connectors, then put it back in, and still, would not POST.
I then installed my old HD 4850, and it booted, I installed the drivers, and it worked fine....well....as fine as something that old could, lol.
I figured, what the heck, it's borked....I may as well dismantle the 6870 to see if anything was fried, or any signs of damage. I cleaned the minor amount of dust, as I had recently dusted my system. I replaced the thermal paste, and gave it another try.
Boom.....it boots. I installed the current drivers for my 6870 and I played RAGE for about 30 minutes, all seems well now. Including a few reboots.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue may have been?
