I have a Toshiba Satellite S-50 with an AMD Radeon R7 M260 graphic card and Ubuntu 14.04 as OS. I have tried several times to install the drivers provided by AMD and that can be downloaded following this link. I also followed the instructions that can be found here. During  installation, the following error was encountered:

user@laptop:~$ sudo dpkg -i fglrx-core_15.200-0ubuntu1_amd64_ub_14.01.deb

[sudo] password for user:

dpkg-deb: error: `fglrx-core_15.200-0ubuntu1_amd64_ub_14.01.deb' is not a debian format archive

dpkg: error processing archive fglrx-core_15.200-0ubuntu1_amd64_ub_14.01.deb (--install):

subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2

Errors were encountered while processing:

fglrx-core_15.200-0ubuntu1_amd64_ub_14.01.deb

It looks like there is some packaging issue with the file provided by AMD so the installation of the other three files renders the system unbootable into X.

Am I missing something or did AMD screw up? If the file is the actual problem, can we get them to replace it?
