Now days most people do not want a "global disable" for Hardware acceleration and as such most programs that use it have their own option for enable/disable.
In SketchUp, you need to uncheck the "Use Hardware Acceleration" box that can be found in the SketchUp Menu>Preferences>OpenGL dialog.
