How do I know if my laptop is using AMD graphics or Intel graphics?

Question asked by nik_22 on Aug 31, 2015

My laptop has an AMD Radeon HD 7650M graphics card. My laptop model is SONY Vaio SVE15129CN. There is no option either in BIOS or anywhere else to manually select which video card will be used, the intel one or the AMD one.

Now, the query is, how can I be sure that my laptop is making full use of the AMD graphics card and not just running the mediocre intel graphics? My friend keeps bugging me that my laptop does not have switchable graphics and so my 2GB AMD graphics card is as good as useless. Is that really the case? Or does the laptop chooses itself, when to use which card?

Just for the record, I have played games like hitman absolution and gta 4 on my laptop in medium settings without any lag, if that provides any clue.

P.S. - Laptop specifications are :-

Intel core i7 3rd gen, 4GB RAM, 750GB hard disk, 2GB AMD Radeon HD 7650M, windows 8.1
