I'm building a new PC from scratch and I have decided to go with the AMD FX-9590 Black Edition With Liquid Cooling Kit CPU which is rated at 220 watts. (AM3+)
The thing is that there aren't many motherboards out there which are rated at 220 watts.
On the AMD site here, it has a list of supported motherboards, a bunch of which are rated to support up to 140 watts.
The particular one I'm looking for those of you who are interested is: ASUS AMD AM3+ M5A99FX-PRO-R2 (again rated 140 watt)
My question is: If I combine the 220 watt CPU and the supported 140 watt motherboard, is there any downfall? The last thing I want is to spend a bunch of cash on the CPU if it won't be able to perform at t's best in this current build, I'd obviously much prefer to buy a different motherboard if this is the case.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. Cheers.
according to the CPU support list, the board you have supports that CPU
I recommend using a high-end PSU and an extreme CPU cooler to stay ahead of the power and heat
