    R9 280 Windows 10 Driver Not Installing

    coolfireking2

      hello,

I'm trying to install the windows 10 driver for my r9 280, but it installs everything and gives me the error:

Driver Install: the driver package does not specify a hardware identifier

I have no idea why its doing this all i can say is i've wiped my computer of any existing amd drivers and then done a clean install and same error

Oh and also, yes i do have it plugged into the power as i'm using it now and finally it says in device manager that i'm using the microsoft basic display adapter. If i try and update the driver manually in device manager by selecting it then it gives me the error:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

      AMD Radeon R9 200 Series

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

      Thanks for looking,

      Joseph

I have the same problem too.  However, when I used the auto detect, it turns out that for some reason it's detecting my version of Windows as 8.1 64-bit.  Using that driver does seem to work for right now, but of course you don't get to use DX12.

            Hello Everyone,

            We're currently investigating this issue.

Can everyone experiencing this issue please attach a DXDIAG.TXT report to their response.

In the meantime and as a temporary solution, please try to download and install the Catalyst 15.7 Via Windows Update instead.

When I download the latest Windows 10 driver, I get this report. Can you help me with it? I'm not an expert...

Same problem here aswell. During upgrade to Windows 10 got an error: atikmpag.sys

Windows 10 installer did a reboot and the install went on. After installation of Windows 10 it seems Windows installed the Windows Basic Display Adapter.

Tried severall Catalist versions but all of them resulted in a black screen and having to reboot in safe mode.

                        The autodetect utility says i have a Radeon HD7xxxx series (i have a MSI Ati R9 280 Gaming on a MSI Z87-G45).

Tried installing displaycard from devicemanager ..... that seemed to be working ....Windows apparently found a working driver ....but wait a minute, it is an unsigned driver, to bad for u. Back to the Basic Display adapter.

A little help and a working driver would be very appreciated!
