Embedded SATA compatibility

Question asked by _air_ on Jul 30, 2015

I have an AMD embedded SATA RAID in an HP Microserver N36L. At the time (2011) it was built for SATA 3G drives.

Now I have an HP 1TB SATA 6G drive. It is not recognised by the embedded SATA RAID, but it is recognised by the embedded eSATA using the external eSATA port.

Any ideas what could be wrong, and if there is a fix?

According to HP it is an AMD SB7xx/SB8xx Chipset.
