    Dual Monitor Problem

    mrdawson17

Okay, so my graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 290, and I just bought a new 2nd monitor that is identical to my primary monitor. Both are HDMI monitors, but the graphics card only has one HDMI port with a DisplayPort and two DVI ports. This forces me to use the VGA cord on the 2nd monitor using a VGA to DVI adapter in order to plug it into the card. The 2nd monitor is not being detected by my PC. I cannot, for the life of me, find a solution to this problem, someone please help.

That card has no analog output capability.  You cannot use a VGA monitor without a signal converter.  HDMI, however, is compatible with DVI, so you need only a simple passthrough adapter (or a new cable with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other) to connect one of the DVI ports on the graphics card to the HDMI port of your monitor (or television, which seems more likely given that mix of inputs).
