Issues installing AMD drivers

Question asked by pompousweegee on Jul 14, 2015

I recently reinstalled windows 7, which means I had to install the drivers for my graphics card. I used the auto detect utility and got the drivers I needed, however, there are two different display adapters listed in my device manager. The first is AMD Radeon HD 6520G (my graphics card), the second is AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series (not my graphics card). Confused, I uninstalled the latter of the two, thinking that I didn't need it. Nothing changed after that, my computer stayed the same as before I installed the drivers. I went back and installed the drivers again, this time keeping both of them. My computer worked as expected after that, except after about 2 minutes I got a bluescreen with the error "attempt to restart the display driver and recover from timeout failed". I have been consistently getting this error and I'm not sure what to do anymore. Brought in a computer expert and he told me to take it up with the manufacturer. Any suggestions?
