Windows 7 Professional, 64b, Radeon R9 290X and Catalyst 15.6 = no Aero, Windows reports that the driver does not support Aero.
Clean install after uninstalling 15.5 ...
The problem is that the Windows 8.1 driver is being provided for Windows 7 users, for the last day or so.
The drivers are at
which contains a Download button which is a link to http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.6-beta-software-suite-win8.1-64bit-june22.exe
which one can download and run on Windows 7, and it will install a driver intended for Windows 8.1 users that Windows 7 does not like, hence no Aero.
The same problem exists for Windows 8.1 users, as http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+8.1+-+64 contains a Download button which links to http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.6-beta-software-suite-win7-64bit-june22.exe
Please can someone update the web links before too many more people have problems? It might be a good idea to do this soon, before this ends up on Slashdot and Reddit.
It could be a good idea to also put an OS version check into the installer, if there are going to be different downloads for different versions of Windows, so that the driver for a wrong OS does not actually install itself.
Same problem with http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+32 which contains a download of http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.6-beta-software-suite-win8.1-32bit-june22.exe
Same problem with http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+8.1+-+32 which contains a download of http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-catalyst-15.6-beta-software-suite-win7-32bit-june22.exe
So has the link problem been resolved, topinio? If so, Where is the correct link for Windows 7 64-bit?
Yes, it's resolved.
