these were the setting via after burner
core 1100 mhz
memory 1650 mhz
fan speed 90%
and it was stable
temp was 94c
need +150 mv
to not black screen
the card is a r9 290x core edition with a reference cooler

Hi gentrycl ,
Is your card using Hynix Memory? I would assume so giving the high overclock you've managed to achieve with it.
What i can tell you is that memory overclocking does not typically improve performance too much, unless you're at 4K pushing very high image quality settings.
Here's another fun fact. 290X Memory Overclocking works best at specific set clocks increasing 125Mhz at a time, thanks to the way the default timings are configured. As such, i would suggest you decrease your overclock and consider using one of the following - 1250Mhz-1375Mhz-1500Mhz-1625Mhz. Although it may be possible for you to go higher, the gains from it are minimal and there is an ever increasing chance of instability.
Overclocking is risky, so use with caution.
not to contradict but the memory is elpida and the card is a bios modded x card trying to find a way to like the one in windows for the cpu that has a lowest possible clock at idle setting so i can keep the card warm plus its really not the memory i want to change though i stated above but the gpu clock once the memory is heated up seeing as it requires less voltage to maintain stablitly
another thing is i recently had to flash the bios...msi afterburner somehow edited the driver or bios voltage -100mv and it couldnt handle the lower voltage on the 2d clock so i just flashed the bios again and then reinstalled the drivers to make sure it fixed it...anyone know which would of been edited the driver or the bios?
current settings are
+25% power limit
Core clock 1125
i have to watch a video when i start the pc so that i can play games will not let me launch with those settings until its about 60-75c+
just started it cold and when i turned the pc on it was @40c
i did find a way to keep it warm. start furmark, kick it into 3d mode while retaining the low memory clock thus keeping the clock at max keeping the temperature high
sorry for the self fix post but im still open to other options that anyone has
never mind no luck with furmark must of been a glitch
