R9 290 Hardware Issue? Graphical Artifacts in Elite Dangerous - Can't Replicate Elswhere

I've started to experience graphical artifacts in Elite Dangerous. The game's support says it looks like a VRAM issue but I can't see anything similar in other games or while running benchmarks. So I thought I'd ask here.

The artifact appears as tiles of greyish dots over a swathe of geometry for a split second, specficially inside stations or across the ship dashboard while exiting supercruise facing a station.

The attached images display an example of the artifact (see bottom right of the images) that I managed to make occur by luck in a fashion that was persistent enough to capture in a screenshot.

I've played Witcher 3, Far Cry 3, Wolfenstein TNO and run Unigine Heaven on max and haven't seen anything indicative of hardware artifacting.

Is this likely to be a game issue with Elite or some really tricky hardware fault? My card is brand new and I haven't even had it for a month.

My GPU is a Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x OC 4GB.
