matching monitors to cards

sorry but there is a high likelihood that to many of you tech guys this could be the stupidest question of the week - but i've tried and failed to find the answer anywhere online

i need the biggest surface area monitor possible - desk top publishing - ideally need to have 2 page newspaper spread viewing at 100% - so with software menus around edge - a 32" will just do it.

my card - hd 5450 - has the following outputs and res.

Integrated dual-link DVI output with HDCP11

Max resolution: 2560x1600

Integrated DisplayPort output

Max resolution: 2560x1600

HDMI® (With 3D, Deep Color and x.v.Color™)

Max resolution: 1920x1200

Integrated VGA output

Max resolution: 2048x1536

so i´ll go for something with dvi or idp to get highest res possible but - and here comes the possibly stupid bit - all 32" monitors seem to offer 2560 x 1440.

will my card accept 1440 and hence run in 2560 x 1440, or will it use its 1600 in the area of 1440 - so giving a vertically squashed display?

thanks for anybody willing to help a non techy get it right.
