    FirePro W7000 not recognized

      Fire Pro W7000 does not appear to be recognized by the OS

       

      Target System:    

      ProLiant DL580 G7

           4 x Xeon E7-4870

           FireProW7000 installed, extra power plug not connected to power source

           Bios is set to: Optional video primary, disable embedded video

      MS Server 2012 R2

       

      Problem Description

      Driver Auto Detect

      AMD Catalyst Auto detect gives the following message on run " We are unable to find a driver for your system"  The Graphics Hardware entry for the AMD Catalyst AutoDetect window shows "A-Series APU" and the OS is shown to be win 8.1 which is also incorrect.

       

      Driver Install from downloaded package

      Express install starts and fails after the 'Detecting devices' stage. Catalyst Install Manager Installation Report:

      System information

      In the Bios an IRQ assignment can be seen for the ATI device, but, System information--> IRQs in the OS does not list the device. 

      System Information--> Conflicts/Sharing shows an entry for the Miscrosoft Basic Display Adapter and a 'PCI Express Root Complex

          I have this exact same problem except on a Dell PowerEdge T620.  I can see the W7000 card as far as BIOS is concerned but once booted into Server 2012R2 it's not listed.  Under Device Manage I have two "Microsoft Basic Display Adapters" one of which is the onboard VGA and the other has an exclamation with an error that reads;

           

          "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

          The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter."

           

          When I run the Catalyst installer (downloaded from the Dell website, specific to my model server, it fails with the following;

            Working with Dell on this issue I believe their driver package is either incorrect or out of date, so just download directly from AMD and it should solve your problem (worked for me)!

              make sure the supplemental PCI Express power is connected for any GPU that has one. The W700 is not that extreme but it needs 150W of power roughly.
