Programming in BIOS slot2 configuration PCIe x8?
According to the manual diagram, PCIe slot 2 is only x4 electrical, there is no way to make it an x8 electrical slot.
And what is your question ?
Hoy can we configure first slot of H8DGi as PCIe x8?
You will need to contact Supermicro or refer to the documentation that came with that motherboard.
Documentation says "no", our authorised dealer can't tell any definite. But this board has two north bridges SR5670 - planty of pcie lines.
Please tell me what is the root cause for impossibility PCIe x8 slot 1. Is it the PCB electrical connections of PCIe, or some limitations when programming the BIOS. Fundamentally two bridges SR5690 have the required number of lanes.
Can this be determined with the help of debugging tools.
Electrical connections in the PCB.
We have the debugger for AMD Opteron. Would you please help us to activate all ports of SR5690, to see if more lanes are present at the x8 slot actually. May be some programming sequence or default state of NB.
I think this discussion is not really within the scope of this forum.
thank you for spent time and helpful answers
