Since the dp/ mDP to hdmi 2.0 adapter will be released sometime Q2 2015, I want to know if AMD is working on driver updates for the 200 series so that they will be compatible 4k @60hz using dp to hdmi.
Which adapter are you talking about?
These active DP 1.2->HDMI 2.0 adapters which have been announced quite a while ago but for some reason still didn't surface yet.
So they're like the announced but never released stand alone MST hubs.
Supposedly there was one that was supposed to be released in April. I believe a mDP 1.2 to hdmi 1.4 adapter would still work @ 60 hz as long as the firmware can support it.
HDMI 1.4 does not support UHD/4K at 60Hz without reducing the color space. The latter is generally OK for movies, but it's horrid for a computer desktop.
Got the same question. I need mdp to hdmi 2.0 adapter to provide 4K in 60 Hz
Last I saw these got pushed to q4 2015 at best. I'm shocked the r9 300 series and fury x don't support hdmi 2.0 natively. Some people like to game in their living room. Stop trying to force freesync monitors on everyone!
I was using an adapter for 4K@60Hz with my pair of 290s for several months until AMD removed the functionality via their drivers for some reason. I've put in 2 support tickets yet received no response. I'm buying a new VGA card and was going to wait for the Vega but it may be time to switch to Nvidia. I've had an AMD machine since they bought out NexGen and Nvidia bought out 3Dfx but this is the 3rd time they have removed functionality via drivers that I was using. They must want me to switch...
I bought this ACCELL Active adapter Mini-Display Port 1.1 to HDMI 1.4 at Amazon.com (Accell B086B-008B-2 UltraAV Mini DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI 1.4 Active Adapter - AMD Eyefinity Certified, Poly Bag Packaging) in 2014. Connected my Samsung HD Smart Television using the HDMI cable connected to the adapter. Worked great. All images came out looking fine. BUT my Samsung is a 1920 x1080 tv and not a 2K or 4K television or monitor. But, Accell may have an updated version of this adapter for the 2k and 4k monitors and television.
Went to Accell website and found this adapter MST hub, a bit pricey at $120.00, UltraAV® Mini DisplayPort 1.2 to 3 HDMI Multi-Display MST Hub | Accell not sure if this is what you need.
From Product Description:
The MST Hub can support up to three high-resolution displays independently, two monitors with resolutions up to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz and the third monitor up to 2560x1600 @ 60Hz*. With the UltraAV MST Hub you can chose to expand a single image across three displays, perfect for high resolution gaming. For the efficiency and productivity of multi-tasking, easily dedicate each display to a separate application.
*The maximum resolution is dependent on the throughput of DP 1.2 or HDMI 1.4 as well as the graphics and display solution used.
