W600 - More than two videos

    aldero

      Hi,

We would like to create a large projection comprising 6 video projectors. Each on will have a 720p resolution = 1280x720px. I came across the FirePro W600 and it seems to be the perfect solution.

I just have one question: Is it possible to show more than 2 videos at the same time?

The specs say that the W600 can decode up to 2 HD videos at the same time.

I was wondering if it is possible to show more videos, either with support from the CPU or by lowering the resolution of the videos.

Thank in advance you for your help.

          Hi,

the spec refer to the HW decoder (UVD) which is on the GPU. Using this decoder you can decode 2x1080p in parallel on the GPU. Of course you can show more videos by decoding some of them on the CPU. Using a lower video resolution will increase the number of streams that you can decode in parallel. Switching to 720p should allow you to decode 4 video streams on the GPU.
