Attempting to use VCE-DEM to share a full-screen game, but it only ever fails to acquire the display. Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not supported? If not, will it be?
I have captured full screen using VCE-DEM sample. I play a movie, full screen using VLC and then run the VCE-DEM (screenCapture) sample. Can you try this experiment and let me know?
A full screen game is not like playing full screen video sadly. Full screen games will acquire the screen exclusively.
But since the amf-dem will create a virtual screen it should work if set-up properly. Actually I would like to figure this myself, but using Catalyst 14.1 I cannot initialize the amf-dem encoder.
Could you help us understand the following:
- AMD Platform details?
- OS details?
- Code snippet on how you are initializing the AMF DEM encoder?
- Share the execution logs.
AMF DEM is supported on Catalyst 14.1.
I've answered here:
I've got DEM working on my system and software and I can now confirm that full screen games will NOT WORK.
It might be that the DX API is trying to set some parameters on the screen and that DEM virtual screen doesn't support that.
I have tried, mirroring, extending and using only the WIFI display with no success in any case.
It is very sad but true.
