opencl and hypervisor

looking at building a new machine and was wondering how i am going to need to set it up. i want to do virtualization on it, so i'm thinking of using a bare metal hypervisor as the base and then  any and all OS's on that.  the question i have is, with a hypervisor in between the OS and actual hardware, is there enough of a direct connection between the OS and hardware to do opencl on the graphics, or get the performance for gaming?  or am i just better off install one OS for any gaming and opencl development, and virtualize anything and everything on top of that?

if i do go the hypervisor route, any reccomendations for which one?

thanks! ~dave k.
