It definitiely works in Ubuntu, because I've been using it.
I had the same problem at the start, but it was so long ago, I can't remember exactly what it was now. I think it had soething to do with it using 32-bit libraries instead of 64.

ACML-GPU is currently only supported on 64-bit Linux distros. I believe the team tests on SLES and RHEL.
