I'm currently in the proces of developping a new deferred shading engine for usage in Linux (and possibly Windows too). For this engine I'm considering using an array of textures to which different layers at different depths can be rendered.
Unfortunately, the necessary extension for OpenGL 2 (EXT_texture_array) is not supported by the AMD driver on Linux (according to glxinfo). Is there any chance this extension will be supported soon on the Linux platform?
And while I'm at the topic of driver support, when can we expect OpenGL 3 drivers for both the Windows and the Linux platform?
