Non-Standard Memory Configuration

What happens if I use a memory configuration that is not 1 DPC or 2 DPC (8, 16, or 32 DIMMs)? For example, if I load 12 or 24 DIMMs?

Only one DIMM is required for the system to operate. However, it is recommended that each channel pair have the same DIMM part installed, so each NUMA node has local memory. While a memory configuration that is not uniform across all of the channels will indeed function, it will not have the maximum throughput achievable by EPYC.
