Anything from the RX 500 series will be compatible.  You have plenty of power to run up to an RX 580 if you so choose.

What's your idea of a shoestring budget?  GPU prices are finally coming back down to MSRP, but the lower end of the spectrum is still overpriced in many cases. I've seen some RX560 4GB cards at decent prices recently - about $140. I don't think I'd get the RX550 if I were you. It is a big dropoff from the 560 for not much less money. You can catch some used cards like the RX 460 4GB for well under $100 and it will be close to a RX560 in performance.

i have a friend with that cpu, and he has a RX-580.  he thinks it will bottleneck a little in some games, but overall, does just fine in higher GPU-use AAA games.

a 570 or 580 would be just fine for that cpu.

Also, with that older monitor (1600 x 900) a RX 580 might be overkill.  But, if you do plan on an updated display at some point getting a better GPU now wouldn't hurt.  Let us know what you decided!

on the other hand with that older 1600x900 monitor, a LOT of AAA titles might get far better frame rates at higher quality settings than they would otherwise, including older AAA titles.

Unfortunately, the native refresh rate is 60Hz, so additional frames won't really accomplish much except to generate additional screen tearing.  I would recommend running with AMDs FRTC set at 60.

Im currently running an RX 480 with a 1080p panel, like others are saying above the 500 series cards could work for you, but with a budget and the 1600x900 panel that you have it may be overkill. You could possibly save some money and get a top end card from the 300 series and be able to play all your games no problem

I was referring to those games that can't quite make 60 FPS at 1080p stand a better chance of doing so at 1600x900 at nice display options.
