I've wondered about the 'China' vs. 'Taiwan' marking in the past. I am not convinced that Chinese marked CPUs are not fake.
China has been known for embedding clandestine functionality into semiconductor chips over the years. This has been a known problem with routers too. I wouldn't put it past them to try something with a CPU.
