Damn no mATX motheboards for x399 ?

Jump to solution

Damn you AMD. Why no uATX / mATX motherboards for threadripper ?

You pretend that you hear your customer demands, apparently you do not !

You haven't understood the serious demand  for uATX/mATX form factor in x399 platform ?

Who had decided that all HEDT enthusiast do need a lot of expansion cards and multiple storage devices and super huge chassis?

Let's get serious the 98% will use only one GPU especially for workstation scenarios and no more than 2 SSDs at the same time.

The most workflows are concentrated only to the multiple cpu cores and the common setup will be 1 GPU and 32 to 64gb ram. You underestimate the demand of smaller form factor chassis that is very serious for many workflows.

We love AMD  but do not forget that 16core Intel cpus are near to be released and we will jump to x299  mATX  and never look back to AMD again for some years  as you are delaying your official respond for the mATX motherboards availability. That is the time that makes Intel x299 a better solution for smaller mb form factors.

It's in your hand to keep us in  your brand.

AMD you should make a press release and be super clear  if the x399 platform is doable  to uATX/mATX form factor and if it will be released soon or not.

We have the right to know we are your customers that invest our money to you !!!

I hope that press release to be published soon.

who dont know how free-market works...

as i said - AMD can tell the OEMs to produce that mATX MoBo - but the OEMs doesnt have to listen - all they can do is to lower the price for the chipset when it is used in a mATX instead of ATX // but why would AMD do that?

When it will be... AMD should let us know...

I hope someone responsible for AMD to reader that thread...

I wish AMD made mother boards too; for now, you may want to address this issue with your favorite motherboard manufacturer(s). Let's see what they (AIB partners) can come up with!

AMD doesnt produce MoBos - you need to talk to Asrock, ASUS, Biostar, GigaByte or MSI etc

AMD is partnering with all MB manufacturers they could make an agreement  with one MB manufacturer to make an mATX MB to close that gap of the market that request that MB form factor.

This is no excuse. I hope some one from AMD to read that thread.

Because AMD will lose market share.

Who said that this mATX MB should be less expensive than the full ATX oone ?

For example EVGA  at the current time is the only MB manufacturer that is producing MB for x299 at 300$ after agreement with Intel. They are not stupid at Intel. They know the need for that specific market.

This x299 MB are not cheaper than many full ATX mb (even if it have only 4 ram slots and in general less components).

For smaller form factor than mATX is not even possible with that huge CPU size of threadripper. It's a good idea that AMD had to cut down cost with the threadripper cpu design but it's to damn difficult not to be able to be installed in smaller systems. That's a minus.

you still dont get it - AMD CANT DO ANYTHING TO FORCE OEMs TO PRODUCE AN X399 mATX MoBo!!!!!! - the ONLY thing AMD CAN do is to make a CONTRACT with OEMs (Asrock etc) to sell them the Chipset for less when then use it for a mATX MoBo.

the size of mATX is engough for a Threadripper CPU - even with Quadchannel Ram (8 Slots) - but the only thing that is questionable is if the MoBo can handle that much power in that size... - because mATX with 300W from the Board is kinda hard - 250W is usually common limit
