BLACKice

Greetings team members!

The last time I had an AMD powered rig was about 2010 with an ASUS ROG laptop running something like HD5XXX? graphics.  The past several years, I've been looking to build a new rig and I wound up doing so back in January.  Now some might call me nuts, but last week, I replaced my i7 6700k with a Ryzen 1700X.  I've wanted to go back to AMD for a good while now, but just never pulled the trigger until now.  I plan to either sell or make a second rig w/ my other processor, but for now, here is BLACKice.  Next change pending the release of RX Vega.

This is an ongoing project, so i'll post any changes as they happen!

Re: BLACKice

I LOVE the CF touch on this! Looking good Not sure who would call you nuts for switching to the 1700X. I have absolutely no regrets - especially with more optimizations coming over time! What would be nuts is choosing a 6700k over a 1700X - not because it's an Intel product, but because it makes so much more sense capacity wise.

What do you use this system for mainly?

Re: BLACKice

For the moment it is mainly gaming, but I plan to start streaming/recording/editing in the very near future.

What are your favorites? ps, if you haven't already checkout our twitch stream on twitch.tv/amd. Every now and then the hosts hold community nights etc and we get to jump in on the fun.

Re: BLACKice

I've mainly been playing [Redacted Due To NDA] and having a great time with it!

I also play Paragon, Overwatch, Quake Champions and whatever old steam purchases I decide to dust off every now and then.

You?

Re: BLACKice

I think we're in the same Redacted per NDA!

I love RTS', and certain MMOs like SWTOR; non/tactical shooters (Argo, Arma) and most Tom Clancy games like R6 Siege, Wildlands. For group fun I love Quake, PUBG and a whole list of games sitting to be installed still. This current Steam sale doesn't help narrow it down as my moods change all the time and I have to try everything at least once.

Re: BLACKice

We may be! Does yours revolve around floating islands and 4-man groups?

Re: BLACKice

It is fire-team sized yes. There's never anyone available for it except a dev here and there though - let's just say it's a mashup of different things in one game.

Re: BLACKice

Man, the aesthetics on this build are amazing.  Since I have an opaque side panel, I think I'll just leave that in place and pretend my system looks like this on the inside.
