Virtual Reality continues to grow with an increasingly powerful stay in the world of storytelling. AMD provides the graphics technology needed to power these immersive worlds and take users through heightened experiences. AMD is bringing its latest in VR and high-end graphics to this year’s VRTO 2017.
VRTO (Virtual & Augmented Reality World Conference & Expo), is Canada’s largest virtual, augmented and mixed reality convention – and the largest on North America’s east coast. AMD will be taking part in VRTO’s headline groundbreaking panel, alongside THE VOID, IMAX and Two Bit Circus. The panel will discuss the future of VR as Out-of-Home public entertainment. AMD’s Ed Callway, Entertainment Architect, will be participating in this panel.
AMD’s Roy Taylor, Corporate Vice President, Content, Alliances & VR, will also be presenting at VRTO. Roy Taylor will discuss innovations and trends for VR over the next 3 years. Prepare yourself for a ride into the near future of VR.
AMD has planned 3 VR demos for attendees to experience:
MasterpieceVR – powered by the AMD Ryzen™ CPU and Radeon™ Pro graphics, and running on HTC VIVE. MasterpieceVR enables aspiring and professional artists to create sophisticated 3D artworks and models in immersive VR environments. AMD will be showing a special preview of the newest version with features designed for creative professionals.
3 Minutes to Midnight – a VR project and a twisted comedy, developed by National Film and Television School (NFTS) Games Design MA graduates, Jameela Khan, Manos Agianniotakis and Laura Dodds. AMD teamed up with NFTS students and graduates by providing them with Radeon™ Pro WX 7100 graphics cards to create immersive VR experiences. AMD has recently strengthened this relationship with the launch of a scholarship.
Radeon™ ProRender Game Engine Importer tool – currently in beta, the importer tool enables importing an asset from a traditional 3D content creation application into a game engine for visualization in VR, while still retaining all its properties, including materials and lighting. The Radeon ProRender Game Engine Importer enables this by allowing the easy import of the geometry and materials of CAD designs from SOLIDWORKS® to Unreal® Engine, where it can be viewed in VR.
