I have built a new PC with 1950x and ASUS ROG Zenith Extreme motherboard with Noctua NH-U14S TR4 CPU cooler. The system is up and running now.
I just want to make sure that the CPU cooling is adequate. When I go to BIOS I see the CPU temperature moving between 30-35 C in a regular sawtooth pattern. Sometimes the temperature goes up to 47-48 C. Is this reasonable/too high? Since the CPU should be almost idle in BIOS I wonder if I should rethink my cooling?
Would appreciate any pointers.
I know on my 1800X overclocked to 4ghz with a Corsair H115i it will idle at between 29 and 40 degrees C, I'm not quite convinced temps under 40 are read exactly right since it will bounce up 5 degrees then drop back down and repeat even though there is little to no activity. The good news is that the thermal max for all Ryzen based processors is a massive 91 degrees C, much higher than the 61C of Bulldozer based processors.
