What happened to FX-4150 125 watt cpus? I can't find a mb that will support it.

I have an FX-4150 125 watt cpu and can't find a mb that will support it. Any advice?

Any AM3+ socket mainboard should support it. I cannot imagine that those are such difficult to find...

Heres a bunch of AM3+ motherboards that would work with your 4150

Well, as it happens, it won't work in an ASUS M5A97, tried it, and according to ASUS cpu specs and speaking with ASUS directly, none of there boards will support it. Problem seems to be the 125 watts. Checking Gigabyte and others, they seem to support the 95 watt version, but not the 125 watt. I have a 125 watt??

Most AM3+ motherboards support a 125W CPU. I don't know why this M5A97 doesn't include the 4150 in the supported CPU's list (probably because they didn't test it on this motherboard, and any AM3+ mb on Asus' site) , since it does support the (also 125W) 4170, all up to the 8350.

So as I said: Most AM3+ motherboards support a 125W CPU, and hence those that do should logically also support the 125W 4150.

Did you use the latest BIOS available for that motherboard?

''Every AM3+ motherboard supports a 125W CPU. ''

Nope, you are wong.

Re: What happened to FX-4150 125 watt cpus? I can't find a mb that will support it.

EDIT: I guess you're right. Since AM3+ was supposed to be 'Bulldozer-ready' I assumed 125W support should be there by default.

So I'll try to do some damage control:

Some older/lower end/budget AM3+ motherboards DO NOT officially support CPU's with a TDP of 125W. Please check a certain motherboard's CPU support to check if they do (most/all 970 series and up should support it).

However, OP's motherboard DOES support 125W CPU's.

While they may support a 125Watt CPU, not the FX-4150 125Watt.

Like I said, your motherboard officially supports every other 125W AMD FX processor, so there's no reason it doesn't support yours.

Did you check which BIOS version you have and updated to the latest? Some older AM3+ motherboards need their BIOS updated before you are actually able to use an FX processor.
