Going to builed a new rig I am a AMD guy was considering AM3+

Asus M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ Motherboard - ATX, Socket AM3+, AMD AMD 990X/SB950, DDR3 2133 MHz (O.C.), SATA III (6Gb/s), RAID, 8-CH Audio, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, PCIe 2.0, CrossFireX Ready

AMD FX-8350 Processor - 8-Core, Socket AM3+, 4GHz, 8 MB L2 Cache, 8 MB L3 Cache - FD8350FRHKBOX

KIO-102362470 :: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB Desktop Memory Module Kit - 2x 8GB, 1866MHz DDR3, CL10, DIMM - HX318C10FBK2/16

I have considered the A series but they dont have 8 cores of processor but the AM3+ seems to be outdated I am torn on what to get.

I will use the system mainly for gaming I will spend as much as it takes, the last upgrade 5 yrs ago I did got me this far

this is my system now I usally upgrade as I need and right now I need motherboard and processor i was going to wait to see if a new amd 8 core cpu comes out but it looks like amd is going more for the mobile right now

Re: Upgrade my rig

Stick with what you have now until next year when AMD releases their new processors based on a new socket, either called FM3 or AM4.
