Ryzen 5 5600X only fully works with CPB disabled

Hi everyone,

I got a new PC:

* Asus ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi
* AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
* Asus ROG STRIX RTX 3080
* 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair RAM CMK32GX4M2B3200C16

I tried many tests like Prime95, memtest86, etc. - none of them showed any error.

Also, I can play games with the PC for hours, no crashes, unexpected reboots, errors in Windows Event Viewer, etc.

BUT! The following things appear, unless I switch CPB (Core Performance Boost) from Auto to Disabled in my BIOS:
* Unable to start Elite Dangerous (something about verifying game files)
* Unable to start Star Citizen (also because of invalid game files)
* DISK WRITE ERROR when downloading/updating Steam games
* INVALID DEPOT CONFIGURATION error in Steam when downloading/updating Steam games
* Steam downloads are stopping, only to resume again in 5 minutes - if not many times in the middle of the download, then at the very end (e.g. 425MB/425MB) and I have to manually resume the download
* Unable to pack/unpack 7z files when I use a password for the archive file

Of course setting the CPB to "Disabled" sets my max. CPU frequency to 3,7GHz, even in boost mode (instead of the 4,6GHz it is able to do in boost mode), so the solution to simply disable CPB isn't acceptable of course.

Believe me, I've tested so many things in the past 4 weeks (first together with the support teams of the games, then in other forums and so on. If you speak German, you can check my forum thread here: https://forum.geizhals.at/t902424,-1.html

So, what does it mean if disabling CPB solves all those issues?

* CPU damage?
* Some fault in AGESA?

I'm currently running on the latest non-beta BIOS (version 2006):
https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk_bios

But I can also see that there is a beta BIOS (version 2401) that says:
1. Update AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.3 Patch A
2. Improve system stability

Worth a try? Or should I return the CPU for replacement?

Thanks!

Trust me, I did a lot of troubleshooting in the past 4 weeks.

Trying it with only 1 RAM doesn't help. Trying it with RAMs from a friend (which work fine in his system) doesn't help.

Temperatures are fine.

for stability test you can try use https://github.com/sp00n/corecycler

let it run and see any error..... i have gaming error before whea error while pbo2 setting.... let the corecycler find the error in 24 hours... and gaming stable now...

Hm, although I don't have any stability issues (even with CPB enabled I can play games for hours) and also don't have any WHEA errors, unexpected reboots, etc. - I will give it a try.

But I already had Prime95 for 5 hours straight and there was no issue.

FYI: CoreCycler ran fine over night (more than 8 hours).

Hi!

I found C-State in BIOS and disabled it.

But I didn't find HPET in BIOS, only in device manager in Windows - so I disabled it there.

Didn't help either, but I found out that setting "VDDCR CPU Voltage" from 1,1V to 1,2V solves all the issues, even with CPB enabled (set to "Auto").
