I've used it for a month. The CPU was overclocked to 3.8GHz @1.35V. The temperature is normal both at idle or under load. And it can run Prime95 stress testing for 30+ minutes without any problem. I recently noticed that the screen would freeze randomly at a frequency of once every day. When it freezes, the system isn't under heavy load. Usually it's when I browse Internet or use other non-demanding software. The screen would freeze for half a minute, not responding to any input from keyboard and mouse. After that, BSOD would appear briefly (about a few seconds), before the system goes into black screen without any display. The fan is running at full speed when it's in black screen. And the error LED for CPU and Memory on MB flashes alternatively. I have to push the reset button to reboot the system.
The memory I am using is G.SKILL Aegis 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 2400 (Model: F4-2400C15D-16GIS) . It's from my old Intel system and didn't have any problem on my old system. But it's not on the supported list of Ryzen 1700. I have updated my BIOS to the newest version (F7). And this problem persist on both the older version and the current version of BIOS.
suprised 1.35 is stable usually 1.38 for that clock.. may want to bump ram volts up a bit and see fi that helps and run memtest86 or aida64 see if there going ok.
dont use firefox if your browsing if its a low level issue. you dont have ram set to power down do you? and you have everything set for quick cpu pulls right so it dont droop correct? can you set those ram sticks too 2T ? i dont see that you own a graphics card or not? need more info specs ...
Thanks for helping. I have increased the Vcore to 1.37v (although most time runs at 1.356v) and the voltage of RAM by 0.05v to 1.25v to see if this stabilises things downs. I stress tested the CPU in aida64 for an hour, and nothing went wrong. I will continue to observe if the system is stable in daily uses.
Here's my specification:
CPU: Ryzen 1700
MB: Gigabyte B350 Gaming 3
RAM: GSKILL 16GB 2400MHZ (model not on the support list of Ryzen)
Graphics: EVGA Gtx 1050
PSU: Rosewill Bronze 1000w
those dual rank sticks... if you got new bios try to set 2t definatley.. also your going t need that SOC set pretty firm. 1.1875. bump 1.8v pll 1.92v if gigabyte has it. im an asus head. maybe a gygabyter pro will jump in aswell to help.!
