hi looking for help on overlocking my cpu to get better performance when streaming and playing games in general
ive tried finding a tutorial on the same board and cpu as me and can't find one
My specs are 2133mhz 16gb ddr corsair vengeance crosair h60i liquid cpu cooler gtx 1080 g1 windforce oc 2 120gb ssd / 1tb sshd ax370 gigabyte gaming k3 latest bios F3 ryzen 1600 i barely hit 100 fps in majority of games on high / medium
You are going to want to upgrade your cooling, the H60 is a nice base unit, but it's just a 120x120x25, and out of its class when you're talking about an 8 core 16 thread chip. Ryzen has a higher thermal maximum than Bulldozer based chips, but a lower temperature aids overclocking. Other than that overclocking is the same as any other, up the multiplier until it's unstable, add voltage until it is stable, and repeat until you get to the point of diminishing returns.
thanks for replying its the 6 core 12 thread ryzen and what about all the other stuff like Vcore soc or dynamic vcore or cpu vddp
Oh 1600, thought it said 1800, been a long day at work.. Still the same applies, you're going to want at least the H80i with double fans, the extra thickness improves cooling ability quite a bit. Ideally, if your case can fit it, the H105 or H110, they're 240mm, much larger surface area for excellent cooling capacity even at low fan speeds.
Those voltage options are for extreme overclockers, the people who want to squeeze out every last megahertz. The only one you really need to adjust is CPU VCore, and you're not going to want to go much over 1.4v. Most people are able to get around 3900mhz at 1.375v, and 4ghz at 1.4v. 4-4.1ghz is as high as Ryzen based architecture chips will go with all cores, even the new Threadripper chips top out there. Most suspect it is the chip's internal architecture instead of the cores themselves. Also, your RAM is quite slow, and Ryzen chips perform better with faster memory speeds.
ive put it to 3.6 at 1.332v doesn't go pas 56C on stress test i did have g skill 3200 but still waiting on my replacement for them
im guessing its mainly optimization with ryzen on some games that are bugging me like 70 to 80 fps on ultra bf1 and star wars battlefront 105/110 guess need to wait for patches?
firstname.lastname@example.org on all cores might not be doing you any favors in games. The R5 1600 has a base clock of 3.2ghz and boosts to 3.6ghz, with proper cooling and core boost enabled you should run 3.4ghz base and 3.7ghz boost at all times without any overclocking. Are you using offset or manual voltage to OC? Are you using LLC? If you are getting 70-80 FPS in BF1 with a gtx 1080 g1 windforce oc something is not right even with the 2133 RAM. Try CPU-Z and confirm you are running at 3.6ghz in Windows 10 on all cores when you overclock. What FPS do you get at stock settings on CPU?
i get about the same when its stock my i74790k was hitting 140 easy been told ryzen is not optimized for many games at the moment yes manual overclock
TY, I was curious about CPU-Z to make sure you are running at your set clock after overclocking. Overclock.net has a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K3 discussion thread with over 100 pages of AX370 content. You might have to search the thread a little for the information you are looking for about overclocking or optimizing your setup.
