Hi, first time writing here. So I have a question about my CPU(maybe it's not CPU s fault at all), ever since I installed my SSD my CPU began acting(then again, I doubt it's SSD's fault either), my PC is like month, month and a half old, it worked like a charm, but then started happening, first I thought SSD was faulty but I tested it and it proven to be working just fine, but my CPU on the other hand went nuts, in Ryzen Master whenever it was idle it'd go from like 1ghz to 3.x GHz and worked like a charm while gaming, and now after (LITERALLY) 5, 6 clean windows installs it still shows locked 3.4 GHz with voltage going up to 1.5 etc., it never goes under 3.3 GHz.. The thing is I never touched anything but RAM (3200 MHz ram, using 3000 MHz profile).. I have no idea what to do, everything in BIOS is default, on PC everything is default.. even as I write this I reinstalled windows like 15 minutes ago, first startup started showing fine like it was before, restarted PC and it's back at 3.4 GHz, also got BSOD with DCOM error, games work much worse, I played Fort at 150-250 fps now I get the same fps but with frequent stutter which is eating me up

specs

R5 1600

MSI GTX 1060 6GB

Kingston hyper x 8gb 3200mhz

Asus prime a320m-k MBO

HELP PLS! if you need more info I'd be glad to give it and also I'd like to apologize for a mess of a post but I'm nervous and in a hurry.. Thanks in advance

update the bios of your MoBo

PC: R7 2700X @PBO + RX 580 4G (1500MHz/2000MHz CL16) + 32G DDR4-3200CL14 + 144hz 1ms FS P + 75hz 1ms FS
Laptop: R5 2500U @30W + RX 560X (1400MHz/1500MHz) + 16G DDR4-2400CL16 + 120Hz 3ms FS

Will do, i'll update you on how it goes
update: update went fine, nothing changed tho, also I saw that it didn't update to the latest bios there is, but the one before, 3803 version I think, do you suggest that I do another windows install

1. flash latest bios - NOT in Windows (most BIOS have a system for that)
2. install clean latest Win10
3. install latest drivers

4. DONT install any tweak-software (other than CCleaner)
5. use HWMonitor or HWiNFO

1.5V is PRETTY bad for a RyZen - that can actually damage the CPU

I used ez flash 3 utility, i will clean install, one good thing i noticed is that i can now actually use 3200mhz ram profile, before if i tried to boot with 3200 it would keep restarting

Is it okay if i use driver booster to update my drivers? Thanks!

NEVER EVER USE DRIVER BOOSTER - or similar software!

just download the driver from the supportpage OR via Windows (and even the windows-driver function is so broken)!

Okay will do and thanks for the advice

One more thing, latest bios are dated 17.4.2018, version 4008(update agesa 1000a - agesa 1002a), but ez utility downloaded one from january with introduced agesa 1000a and improved system perf, should i manually install latest or stick with this one? like i said i saw an improvement with ram.

Thanks!

Update: i'm gonna look like a fool now but i noticed that power plan was behind the cpu issue, it was on high perf i've set it to balanced now cpu goes to 1.5 while idle and voltage is normal, i'll try playing some games now

okay, so i've reinstalled windows, downloaded drivers from MBO site and chipset from amd's site, ran prime 95 for about 3 and a half hours(i know i should've gave it far more than that) everything was fine, played fortnite, subnautica, pubg, in fortnite stutter is still there, tried from everything on EPIC ( mostly 90-100 fps) to med-high( 250-300 fps) and same thing happens, pubg also has a little stutter and subnautica too, but not even close as fortnite, i've checked temps while playing and they seem really good, cpu at 50 celsius, and gpu around 60, i think that's fine.. but i noticed that even with "Ryzen Balanced plan" cpu won't go to 3.6, in hwmonitor it says that max is 3393, so clearly it doesn't use boost to 3.6.. oh and gpu was being used like 99% so she's working fine, for pubg and subnautica i can understand a bit of stuttering coz they're much bigger games and much more demanding and it's not as noticeable as in fortnite, maybe it's the games fault.. do you recommend that i do any other tests? thanks..

i think the stuttering is based on the bad optimization of that games you tested
also run hwmonitor while gaming

use "high performace" as energy-plan
pls provide a screen of your bios

yeah i got the same idea, played far cry 5 maxed out went smooth as butter, but now the thing that worries me still is that i get that usb plug in sound with mouse "turning itself off and on", it happens for a second, but it's very very annoying, especially because the PC is new and windows can't be more fresh... i saw that there's little difference between ryzen's plan and high perf but i'll try both to see if there's any noticeable difference, thanks for the advice

that mouse problem is either a bad mouse, a bad usb-port on your mobo, a bad usb cable connector to your case (if you use this), a faulty driver, or your PSU is a china-cracker and emits an electro-magnetic field that kills your usb ports/controllers

okay, so regarding the mouse when i went devices and printers double-clicked mouse and went to hardware i opened all device functions and looked for ones which were set so that pc can turn them of for power saving, then i tried to troubleshoot the mouse and noticed something weird, so i have 4 3.0 usb ports and 2 2.0 usb ports, but the thing is i tried all 6, and each and every time the troubleshooter says that it's plugged in a 3.0 port and might not work (even though it does, kind of).. but still nothing on the games stutter, thinking about taking it to a shop so they can check everything out and see if it's hardware related (besides the possibility of mouse being broken, but as i said it was tested on few PCs and laptops and worked flawlessly)

stutter: disable firewall and win defender (via reg - requires restart) + disable all unneeded startup programms + disable superfetch -> test again
mouse: pls tell me exactly what the problem is - but i still think its one of the problems i posted earlier

it's like i'm literally pluging it in and out constantly, sometimes doesn't happen at all, then it happens like 2, 3 times in 4 seconds.. mouse "disconnects" and reconnects back in less than a second, it can happen that it works all day and next thing you know all hell breaks loose

so, i installed latest drivers from logitech site, everything worked peferctly fine for a day or two, and now again same thing, but it happened rarely.. one thing i noticed is that i have amd usb controller instead of asmedia, it probably got installed when i installed chipset drivers since i downloaded them from amd's site, should i uninstall those usb drivers and install those from asus? thanks

what is your MoBo - and you can have 2-3 usb controller - so you need both drivers

but what i mean: do you have Windows automatic driver install active?

PC: R7 2700X @PBO + RX 580 4G (1500MHz/2000MHz CL16) + 32G DDR4-3200CL14 + 144hz 1ms FS P + 75hz 1ms FS

asus prime a320m-k, when i tried to install mobos drivers for usb it didn't let me

i disabled it last night to check if it was causing a problem since i read that it can happen that it constantly tries to update mouse driver and causes it to "disconnect" but i can enable it again if i have to

leave auto-driver-install disabled - it just bricks every system xD

i check what drivers you need
ps show me your USB settings in your BIOS - maybe you dont use legacy support

here it is, everything is default except ram d.o.c.p, also I've noticed cpu temp is a bit high but it happens occasionally since it's always at 3.2 Ghz minimum

use this USB and Chipset driver

1. Chipset

2. reboot

3. USB

4. reboot

5. test

PC: R7 2700X @PBO + RX 580 4G (1500MHz/2000MHz CL16) + 32G DDR4-3200CL14 + 144hz 1ms FS P + 75hz 1ms FS

so, it seems that downloading a chipset from mobos site is a downgrade compared to amd (at least it said it was 18.10v, now it's 17.7. version, and still can't install usb drivers, says "asmedia host controller could not be found" and ends installation, still only AMD controllers are there
