I just went through a rebuild....now I am using

MSI MPG x570 Gaming Plus

Ryzen 7 3800x

I am using CPUID HWMonitor and seeing my Ryzen idle between 45c as far as 57c

Anytime I do something, open an app, browse more sites, go through Discord servers, I see it quickly spike up to as far as 74c

It just seems to run hot. This is my first AMD processor. I came from an i7 (2011 socket, hexacore, 5820k) and it never sat or ran this hot. I was seeing mostly temps in the late 30c's.

Do these simply just run hot? What can I inspect if this is not normal?

Your idle temperature isn't bad bit 74c just opening an app etc is a bit too high.  

Can you check your cooler is physically mounted to your CPU properly. 

Update your BIOS to the latest version if you haven't done so already.  

Also try re-applying good quality thermal paste too as this is sometimes the problem due to it not having proper contact.  

Can you post your CPU voltage on here.  

Use either Ryzen Master or HWinfo64.  

Anything up to 1.45 volts is ok.
