I recently purchased a FX 9590 to replace my old Phenom II. I swapped in the CPU, but when I turned on the computer all the fans and LEDs come on, but the screen remains black, no bios or anything. I swapped back to the Phenom and upgraded the BIOS then back but still nothing. I've doubled checked the CPU power cable and pump/fans are connected.
Is my CPU just defective or could there be some other issue?
Case: Deepcool Genome (built in cpu liquid cooling)
PSU: Raidmax 12V 1000W
Motherboard: ASRock FX 990 Extreme 9
Memory: GSkill Ares 4x 8GB SDRAM DDR3
GPU: EVGA NVidia Titan Z
SSDs: 1x 40GB, 1x 120GB
HDD: 1x 1TB, 1x Hybrid 4TB
It turns out I forgot to reset the BIOS to the default settings, everything works fine now.
Glad that you have resolved the issue. It's also important to clear CMOS when swapping CPUs or other hardware so that the mobo BIOS rescans all hardware and sets in properly.
