Laptop CPU 5900H - just "H" no HX or HS ?????

Hi

I see several stores with specs on laptops with a 5900H, just H, nothing else, no X or S.

I was sure that is was a typo and ask them to check it, they keep insist that this CPU exist.

If it exist why is it not listed on AMD's own webside?

Is it some kind of a ghost CPU?

Yes it is an actual Ryzen mobile processor. The reason why AMD doesn't have it listed is because it hasn't officially come out to be sold to the public.

Here is this tech article about the new Processor: https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Ryzen-9-5900HX-Processor-Benchmarks-and-Specs.512761.0.html

"AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX

The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX (in leaks also known as R9 5900H( is a processor for big (gaming) laptops based on the Cezanne generation. The R9 5900H integrates all eight cores based on the Zen 3 microarchitecture. They are clocked at 3.3 (guaranteed base clock) to 4.6 GHz (Turbo) and support SMT / Hyperthreading (16 threads). The chip is manufactured in the modern 7 nm process at TSMC. The "X" in the name indicates the overclocking capabilities of the CPU.

The new Zen 3 microarchitecture offers a significantly higher IPC (instructions per clock) compared to Zen 2. For desktop processors AMD claims 19 percent on average and in applications reviews showed around 12% gains at the same clock speed.

With the increased clock speed and IPC improvements thanks to Zen 3, the Ryzen 9 5900HX should be clearly faster than the lower clocked Ryzen 9 4900H.

In addition to the eight CPU cores, the APU also integrates a Radeon RX Vega 8 integrated graphics card with 8 CUs and up to 2100 MHz. The dual channel memory controller supports DDR4-3200 and energy efficient LPDDR4-4266 RAM. Furthermore, 16 MB level 3 cache can be found on the chip.

The TDP of the APU is specified at 45 Watt (default) and can be configured from 35 to 54 Watt by the laptop vendor.

Beware, the R9 5900H is not yet released (rumored early 2021) and therefore above information is still based on rumors and leaks like from Geekbench."

Thank you, but things don't add up.

If it is true the laptops with just "H"are already out, I could have bought one, so that it is not released yet would be nonsense.

The link is to 5900HX, as I read the link from notebookcheck.not, they call the HX for just H.

"The AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX (in leaks also known as R9 5900H"

So 5900HX = 5900H. There is no difference?

When is that blog from?

If you go to AMD Download page under"Processors with Graphics" there are many drivers for various "H" processors including the 5000 Series H processors.: https://www.amd.com/en/support

So it seems like that processor is already out and being sold by OEM Manufacturers to the public. The article mentioned it would be available to the public in early 2021. So the processor came out right after this article was published.

No the "X" disignation just means it can be overclocked but it goes by "H" instead of "HX".

NOTE: The Article that I linked too was from January 2021

Thanks, so it was before the official CES event, that can explain why they said HX is H.

If it exist it would have been mentioned at that event.

If it is out and existed, it should be on AMD's website right?

According to AMD, HX means a higher base clock:

If 5900H exist I would it be between HX and HS or lower than 5900HS, but higher than 5800H?

Can someone from AMD please clarify?

Asus is one OEM Manufacturer that is selling Ryzen 5900HX Laptops: https://laptopmedia.com/us/processor/amd-ryzen-9-5900hx/

From the same website that I linked but from another article concerning the difference between "HX" and "HS" processor models:  https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-announces-Ryzen-5000-mobile-lineup-new-HX-series-led-by-the-Ryzen-...

According to AMD, the HX series is designed to offer "elite-level" performance while the HS series continues to cater to TDP-limited gaming notebooks. ... There are four HS series processors with a capped TDP of 35 W while only the Ryzen 7 5800H and the Ryzen 6 5600H are 45 W parts.Jan 12, 2021

Seems like the 5000 HS Series processors has a TDP limit of 35 Watts while the 5000 Series HX has a TDP of 45 Watts and some 5000 Series H has 45 watts and the 5000 Series U has 15 watts TDP according to this CPU World chart:

So can we agree that 5900HX and 5900H is the same CPU?
