Is 5600 made of B2 revision chips or it is just bad lower clock chip from first B0?

Read lot about lately (link below) about WHEA errors and before I buy it I want to do everything possible to avoid getting B0.

I believe all new Ryzen 5000 series are now being shipped out as B2 versions. Unless the Retailer sends you an old Ryzen 5000 series processor it still had in stock at the time of purchase.

I would inquire with the Retailer if it is the new version of not if they are able to tell you. Most likely by the Processor's S/N you can tell if it is B2 or not.

I asked something similar before here

https://community.amd.com/t5/processors/is-there-a-way-to-recognise-b2-versions-of-5600x/td-p/513087

and I was directed to Overclock.net forum

https://www.overclock.net/threads/ryzen-5xxx-b2-revision-stepping-post-here-your-manufacturing-dates...

But even there nobody is really sure with those numbers. Some even get B0 version at a end of february.

Do you know how to read and interpret those S/N numbers?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anywhere on how to decode Ryzen Serial Numbers.

But you can go by the date the processor was manufactured by reading the second line on the process.

This previous Reddit thread explains how to find the Batch number that has the Manufactured date: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/6scnlg/ryzen_reading_your_production_batch_number/

I found this current AMD Thread concerning the Ryzen 5000 series not working with StoreMI. But they all mention they have B2 Ryzen 5000 processors. So maybe you can asked them when their processor was manufactured: https://community.amd.com/t5/drivers-software/issue-to-use-storemi-with-b2-revision-5600x/m-p/517260...

But it seems like AMD started replacing the BO with the B2 revision in 2020 by some of the dates mentioned at Overclocker forum.

This will be very helpful! Thank you!

I found this reviews and by their CPU-Z picture it looks like a big ammount of 5600 are B0. Ouch:(

The only thing I can suggest is if you purchase the processor from Amazon which has an excellent return policy and if the processor you received is not the B2 type return it.

Also other Retailers like Best Buy or Newegg or Walmart you can always ask them before purchasing if you can return the processor if it isn't the latest B2 Revision.

Also can ask Amazon to verify.

Best to try and purchase from a Retailer with a lot of Processor sales that way you will most likely get a newly manufactured processor.

Try purchasing it from AMD Store. There you will most likely get the B2 definitely: https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/us
